Where Poetry Meets Poolside Luxury

A sanctuary for summer indulgence and celebratory moments: This family’s vision of a pool house combines daily retreats with the perfect party venue. Thanks to designer Martin Steininger, their dream took shape in an architectural and design masterpiece.

For this entrepreneurial family with two teenagers, the pool house serves as a serene retreat, a detached party location for the next generation, and an exclusive guest space for private escapes.

Seamless Openness, Boundless Light

The family’s vision was crystal clear: they wanted a space that felt open and airy yet could be fully enclosed, all while inviting abundant natural light.

The architectural structure is defined by large, modular glass panels that can be discreetly slid to the side, allowing two-thirds of the 65-square-meter pavilion to be opened. This creates a wonderfully unobstructed view of the lake on one side and the pool on the other.

Our design focused on the interior architecture of the pool pavilion. One side of the structure remains closed—housing a sanitary area and storage space concealed behind a ceramic façade with a natural stone look. On the south side, a mobile, decorative metal panel provides flexible shading and can be easily repositioned.

A Palette of Soft Elegance

The architecture’s airy elegance extends seamlessly into the interior, where a timeless, modern aesthetic takes center stage. The design plays with a harmonious palette: a warm anthracite ceiling contrasts with a light-toned floor and neutral accents in brown and gray.

A unifying element is the ceramic facade material, which flows indoors to the Steininger Rock kitchen, the fronts of the wine and refrigeration units, and the sanitary core. Its natural stone-like pattern, with delicate brown and white veining, is paired with rich walnut wood and dark tinted glass, crafting a space that feels both sophisticated and inviting.

Dining and Lounging in Style

The dining area, featuring Mini Jelly chairs by Living Divani, a solid wood table by Stefan Knopp, and copper-toned Melt pendant lights by Tom Dixon, forms a natural connection between the kitchen and lounge.

Luxurious sofas and armchairs by Living Divani beckon relaxation, while carefully curated lighting, including the Noctambule floor lamp and Glo-Ball table lamp by Flos, ensures a warm, cohesive atmosphere. The bioethanol fireplace by Planika Fires adds a touch of elemental romance, creating a cozy, timeless ambiance.

Fire, Water, and Serenity

A mesmerizing interplay of fire and water defines the unique atmosphere of this pool house. Reflected flames dance across the pool’s surface, while the fluid transitions between spaces defy thematic and material boundaries.

Set against the idyllic lakeside backdrop, this pool house transcends its function, offering an unforgettable blend of architecture, design, and serenity.
