Poetry, pool and party mood

Celebrate as the parties fall: That's what a family thought when they had a pool house built for their daily dose of summer holidays, but also for special social occasions. The fact that it plays all the parts is not least thanks to designer Martin Steininger.

The entrepreneurial family had been toying with the idea of extending their exclusive home with pool and lake view with a pool and party house as a separate building for some time. This is now available to the family with two teenagers for a wonderful time out together, but occasionally functions as a party location for the children, separate from the house, or as a fully furnished, private retreat for guests.

Open unity

The ideas of the discerning client were very clear! The new pool house was to be open and airy, but also completely enclosed and yet flooded with light.
Steininger designed a structure with large, modular glass surfaces that can be discreetly parked to the side to open up two thirds of the 65 square metre pavilion. This provides a marvellously unobstructed view of the lake on one side and the pool on the other.

However, one side of the pool pavilion remains closed. The sanitary area and storage room are located here, combined behind the ceramic façade with a natural stone look. A mobile, decorative metal panel that can be easily moved and provides shade has been installed on the south-facing exterior.

Soft tones

But it's not just the architecture that impresses with its weightless elegance: the interior also follows a timelessly elegant, modern concept. At first glance, the harmonious yet contrasting colour arrangement catches the eye: the ceiling is dark in a warm anthracite, the floor is light and carpeted, with grounding shades of brown and grey in between. For Martin Steininger, the fusion of interior and exterior was of central importance.

The ceramic material of the façade thus extends across the modules of the kitchen Rock by Steininger as well as the fronts of the wine cellar and refrigerator, right through to the sanitary centre. The natural stone-like pattern of the ceramic with brown and white speckles strongly characterises the closed part of the pool house, combined with the charm of solid walnut wood and dark, tinted glass that forms the Wall tall unit by Steininger.

A second home

The dining area, furnished with Mini Jelly chairs by Living Divani, a solid wood table by Stefan Knopp and the copper-coloured Melt mini lamps by Tom Dixon, is the logical link between the kitchen and lounge. Sofas and armchairs from Living Divani invite you to relax. Various light sources, such as the Noctambule floor lamp and the Glo-Ball table lamp from Flos, are perfectly coordinated. In combination with the bioethanol fireplace from Planika Fires, Steininger conjures up archaic romanticism in the room.

Fire and water

It is a cosy dance of flames full of security that is reflected in the waves of the pool and gives the new pool house such a special atmosphere. The flowing transitions between the zones deliberately transcend thematic, material and colour boundaries and allow you to enjoy the moment against an idyllic lake backdrop.
