A 'funhouse' for the daughter! steininger.architects fulfilled an unusual brief on a family's property in the Austrian town of Wiener Neustadt.
The house’s cool and unconventional design features a horizontal block extending along the ground floor and an upper floor rotated through 90° and topped with a pitched roof structure.
The client's wish to create an additional space for her art collection was integrated seamlessly into the design concept.
This included planning a leisure room to serve not only as a TV and gaming space but also as a gallery for the art collection.
Designer features are everywhere – including the sculptural spiral staircase made of brass. It leads from the gallery directly to the upper floor, with a spacious dressing room and boutique bathroom. The adjoining bedroom is oriented towards the extensive garden. Large windows provide the connection to nature.
